What is HealthCompass?
HealthCompass is Jersey’s health & wellbeing guide, built by local healthcare professionals.
It helps people discover healthcare and wellbeing services available in Jersey, understand what different providers offer and find practical information about referral, booking and follow-up.
Who is HealthCompass for?
HealthCompass is for anyone looking for healthcare, therapy, wellbeing or related services in Jersey.
You can use it whether you already know the provider you want or simply know what problem you need help with.
I don’t know which healthcare professional I need. Can HealthCompass help?
Yes.
You can search using everyday terms such as a symptom, condition or body area, or use the Find care by symptom or body area guide.
HealthCompass will show relevant types of care to explore.
It is a navigation tool, not a diagnostic service, and does not assess symptoms or recommend treatment.
Does a HealthCompass listing mean a provider is recommended?
No.
Being listed on HealthCompass does not mean a provider is endorsed, recommended or rated as better than another provider.
The directory is designed to help you discover available services and make your own informed choice.
How does HealthCompass decide which providers to include?
HealthCompass aims to provide broad coverage of healthcare and wellbeing services available to Jersey residents.
Listings may be created using reliable public, professional and provider-published information.
Providers do not have to pay or claim their profile to appear in the basic directory.
How do you check provider information?
Information is reviewed against appropriate public, professional and provider sources.
HealthCompass also periodically checks information such as websites and contact details and flags possible changes for review.
Information can change, so important details such as availability, fees, insurance and referral requirements should be confirmed directly with the provider.
What does “Jersey-based” mean?
It indicates a provider with an established local presence in Jersey and access to care locally.
HealthCompass also includes relevant visiting services where appropriate and aims to make the distinction clear so patients understand how and where care is provided.
Can I contact providers directly?
Often, yes.
Many services allow self-referral, meaning you can contact the provider without first obtaining a GP referral.
HealthCompass profiles aim to show whether self-referral is available and how you can contact or book with the provider.
Some services, insurers or particular treatments may still require a referral or prior approval.
Does HealthCompass handle appointments?
At present, appointments are generally arranged directly with the provider using the contact or booking options shown on their profile.
HealthCompass plans to develop additional availability and booking features in future.
Can I see whether a provider accepts insurance?
Where reliable information is available, profiles may show whether private insurance is accepted and, where known, which insurers the provider works with.
Insurance arrangements can vary by practitioner, treatment and policy, so you should confirm coverage directly with the provider and your insurer before treatment.
Why does HealthCompass highlight ongoing follow-up?
For many health problems, the first appointment is only part of the care journey.
Knowing whether a provider can offer ongoing follow-up can help patients understand whether continuity of care is available locally.
Why might some profiles have more information than others?
HealthCompass is currently in public beta, and listings are being continuously checked and expanded.
Some providers publish extensive information while others publish very little. Unknown details are left unconfirmed rather than guessed.
Providers can also claim or update their profiles.
I found incorrect or outdated information. What should I do?
Use the Corrections & requests form to tell us what needs changing.
We review submitted changes before updating public listings.
I am a healthcare provider. Can I claim my profile?
Yes.
Claiming a profile allows HealthCompass to verify that you are authorised to represent the practitioner or practice and helps keep information accurate.
Basic factual listings and corrections are free.
See For Providers for more information.
Can a provider pay to rank higher?
Basic factual information and verification are independent of payment.
HealthCompass may offer clearly labelled promotional or sponsored options in future, but paid features will not change factual verification or imply greater clinical quality.
Does HealthCompass include wellbeing and complementary services?
Yes, but they are clearly distinguished from medical and clinical care.
Inclusion in the directory does not mean HealthCompass makes a claim about the effectiveness of a particular therapy or treatment.
What should I do in an emergency?
HealthCompass is not an emergency or diagnostic service.
For a life-threatening emergency, call 999.
